My Rhyd Ddu research photo library has now reached 519 photos. These have all be categorised so that accurate depictions of the site can be achieved.
However, perhaps unbelievably given the above, there are still a couple of areas that require further info (i.e. a visit to the location) and these will be sorted in the Summer.
For now, the modroc is in, the measurements of UB114 are complete, abutments are ready so it's time to start final track layout calculations and then tracklaying! That is, if there weren't an important football match this weekend! Cheltenham Town versus Grimsby!! Come on Cheltenham!!!
A 009 narrow gauge model railway of Rhyd Ddu. The project was born in late 2005. This blog describes the planning, woodwork, track laying, wiring, DCC, scenery, locomotive and rolling stock. The layout is an impression of the Welsh Highland Railway (WHR) Rhyd Ddu station and Tro Ffridd reverse curves. 009 is 4mm scale (OO) narrow gauge using N gauge track.

Research for Rhyd Ddu continues...
Research carries on apace:
- Visited Rhyd Ddu and have taken over 250 photos of just about everything from every conceivable angle.
- Measured the dimensions of ub114, toilet block and new station building.
- The WHRCL have been fantastic and have let me have copies of relevant construction drawings
- Even cabbed a garratt on the trip!
Other progress includes obtaining the bridge abutments for UB114, getting together switches, CDU etc. Early wiring diagrams have now also been completed.
