DCC addresses

NOTE: 19/7/2010 SOME CHANGES TO SERIES ENACTED AFTER READER COMMENTS – 40 SERIES DELETED, MAKER’S NUMBERS USED FOR ALL HERITAGE ENGINES

I have been thinking about the addresses to give each loco in my fleet. The following are the guidelines I have used:

Where possible (i.e. not more than one loco exists for a single number) the address should be the actual number the loco carries. However in some cases e.g. 1 which could be Russell, Princess or K1, compromise is required.

Each address must be unique and 3 is right out as that is the default address for all decoders on delivery.

Where no number is known a sensible maximum two digit code should be used for ease of use.

Note some of these engines listed below I have not got a model of, but the numbers are assigned here for future proofing.

So we have:

1 - K1
2 - Prince
3 – n/a
4 - Palmerston
5 - Welsh Pony
6 - Vale of Ffestiniog (has no number and 6 is spare)
7 - Castell Caernarfon (as above)
9 - Taliesin
10 - Merddin Emrys
11 - Earl of Merioneth (doesn't carry a number but built to replace Livingston Thompson which held this number)
12 - David Lloyd George

13-19 spare for either new built engines or visitors like the Darjeeling B class, Velinheli etc.

The 20 series is for diesels so
20 - Upnor Castle
21 - Conwy Castle
22 - Dolgarrog (works number 22154)
23 - Castell Cidwm (works no 2395)
24 - Harlech Castle
25 - Criccieth Castle
Others to be added as models built

Then more obvious ones:

60 - lyd2 ‘Eryri’

NGG16s:
87
109
138
140
143

NG15s:
120
133
134

Lyd - 188

And direct from maker's numbers:

206 - Beddgelert
507 - Mary Ann Simplex
554 - Lilla
589 - Blanche
590 - Linda (not the Baldwin)
707 – britomart
738 – Snowdon Ranger
739 – Moel Tryfan
794 – replica 590 Baldwin at WHHR
901 – Russell
979 - Gowrie
4415 - Kerr Stuart

Sensible?
